Whale Watching in Costa Adeje
Pilot whales live here year-round, and seeing them glide beside the boat just minutes from the harbour felt unreal. We chose a small eco-friendly vessel (fewer people, better views) and the crew's marine biologist explained every behaviour we witnessed.
Tip: morning departures mean calmer seas and more active dolphins riding the bow wave right next to you.
Sunset on Mount Teide
At 3,718 metres, "the roof of Spain" gave us the most surreal evening of the trip: an ocean of clouds below, a burning sky above, and total silence broken only by the wind. After dark we stayed for stargazing: Teide's sky is among the clearest on the planet, and we saw the Milky Way with the naked eye for the first time.

The moment the sun slid behind La Gomera's silhouette and everything turned violet. Bring a real jacket even in August, it gets cold fast up there.
Quad Adventure in Teide National Park
Riding quads through lunar lava fields was pure fun. Our guide knew every viewpoint, so we never wasted light in the wrong place, and the off-road stretches between pine forest and volcanic desert felt like two different planets in one afternoon.
Anaga's Ancient Laurel Forest
The complete opposite of the south: misty, green, prehistoric. Hiking under thousand-year-old laurel trees with clouds drifting through the valleys is the kind of walk that resets your mind. Sturdy shoes are a must: trails get muddy and magical.
Siam Park: The Fun Day
Yes, we also had our adrenaline day: Tower of Power for the brave, Wave Palace (the biggest artificial wave in the world!) and the lazy river through the lush Thai gardens. Fast-track tickets saved us hours of queueing.
Final Thoughts
